FIRST FILM FOUNDATION AND THE JERWOOD CHARITABLE FOUNDATION ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE LAUNCH OF THE JERWOOD FIRST FILM SHORTS PRIZE. THIS UNIQUE NEW SCREENWRITING PROGRAMME WILL PROVIDE DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT AND FREE TRAINING FOR 16 NEW SHORT FILM WRITERS AND THEIR PROJECTS.

It is an exciting and unique new initiative offering high level script development training in a series of special workshops. At least one of the projects developed through the prize will be considered for the BBC Production Prize.

Sixteen writers from throughout the UK will be selected. Additional free training in script development skills will be available to up to four producer/writer/director teams. On completion of the workshops First Film Foundation will promote the writers and their completed projects to producers and financiers of short films, with the intention of moving as many of the developed projects into production as possible.

There will be a special event to launch the Jerwood First Film Shorts Prize on Monday January 7th 2002 at 6pm in London?s Curzon Soho cinema (99 Shaftsbury Ave, W1). The event is open to all filmmakers, and will be the perfect opportunity to talk to those involved with this new short film screenwriting programme.
